Resolves Yes if there is any snowfall in downtown Seattle between now and the end of 2024
Background
A La Niña winter pattern is predicted for the 2024-2025 season, which typically brings cooler and wetter-than-normal conditions to the Pacific Northwest. During La Niña winters, Seattle has historically experienced significant snowfall in approximately half of the cases. The snowiest periods are typically expected in late December, early January, and early February.
Resolution Criteria
Market resolves YES if any measurable snowfall (accumulation of snow on the ground) occurs in downtown Seattle between now and December 31, 2024
Snowfall must be recorded by official weather stations in downtown Seattle
Snow flurries or trace amounts that do not accumulate on the ground will not count for a YES resolution
Snowfall in surrounding areas or higher elevations (like Capitol Hill) but not downtown will result in a NO resolution
