Background
King Frederik X of Denmark ascended to the throne in January 2024 following Queen Margrethe II's abdication. Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, and Danish monarchs traditionally make regular visits to maintain diplomatic ties. Frederik's most recent visit to Greenland was in June 2024 alongside Queen Mary, though this trip was cut short due to logistical issues.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve as YES if King Frederik makes an official visit to Greenland at any point during the 2025 calendar year (January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025). The visit must involve physically setting foot on Greenlandic territory.
The market will resolve as NO if:
King Frederik does not visit Greenland during 2025
Only other members of the Danish royal family visit without King Frederik
Frederik only makes a technical stopover (e.g., plane refueling) without officially visiting
Considerations
Royal visits are typically announced several months in advance but can be subject to last-minute changes due to weather, security concerns, or other commitments
While Danish monarchs regularly visit Greenland, there is no fixed schedule requiring annual visits
As of early 2024, no official announcement has been made regarding a planned royal visit to Greenland in 2025
