The version of TikTok owned must be freely available for download by the vast majority of the US general public. If there is no such version, everything resolves NO.
In the event of a rebrand, this market will follow the successor app/website.
Resolves based on credible reporting on status as of May 1, 2025 (the close date).
There are several markets similar to this question out there, but I didn't see one that can clearly resolve YES to multiple answers (which I think is likely given its a big company).
Feel free to add companies/individuals as desired, and link news articles to prove answers.
Does only direct ownership count?
If for example Sam Altman or Sequoia own Meta stock (not sure if they do) and Meta buys Tik Tok, how does this resolve? I think it should resolve NO for Sam and Sequoia, since even I own Meta stock through index funds.
@AlexanderTheGreater excellent question.
yes, direct ownership only.
had a prior question on this with the same criteria that resolved yesterday concerning status as of April 1 and that resolved to YES for Sequoia and Bytedance, NO for others.
