The resolution that the US and Israel voted no on https://documents-dds-ny.un.org/doc/UNDOC/LTD/N23/318/77/PDF/N2331877.pdf?OpenElement also calls for "Stressing the urgency of achieving without delay an end to the Israeli occupation that began in 1967".
I'm all for any sort of two-state solution that will actually work, but just withdrawing from the territories "urgently" and "without delay" will just lead to a Hamastan 2.0 and so more bloodshed.
I found the explanation: https://usun.usmission.gov/explanation-of-vote-on-a-third-committee-resolution-on-the-right-of-the-palestinian-people-to-self-determination-2/
It's a little vague, but I think he's saying the resolution should also include Israel's right as well? Doesn't make much sense
I have never been more disappointed in US foreign policymakers as I was when I saw the NO vote on Palestinian self determination. We might as well have voted against the Declaration of Independence. WTF is going on?!?
@BTE that's a good question, besides the bad optics they're for a two state solution? Which is self determination?
Is this like that veto they often do in the UN wherever it's against Israel's interests
