Background

NeurIPS 2024 will take place in Vancouver CA from December 10-15, featuring numerous social events, workshops, and networking opportunities. The conference includes official events as well as informal gatherings organized by various affinity groups and organizations.

I have attended NeurIPS 2 times. I attended 1 party the first year, then 5 parties the next year. Extrapolating using an exponential, I will be attending ~25 parties this year.

Resolution Criteria

This market resolves to YES I you attend more social/party events at NeurIPS 2024 than any other individual who makes a verifiable claim about their attendance. To qualify, events must be:

• Official conference socials

• Affinity group gatherings (e.g., Queer in AI, Indigenous in AI/ML)

• Sponsored parties or receptions

• Organized group dinners/meetups with 10+ attendees

Attendance must be documented through:

• Photos/videos showing presence

• Check-ins on social media

• Witness verification from other attendees

Things to Consider

• Some events require special invitations or RSVPs

• Affinity workshops and events run December 10-12

• The main conference runs December 11-13

• Additional workshops run December 14-15

• Energy levels and time management will be crucial for maximizing attendance

• Transportation between venues may impact ability to attend multiple events

• Some events may have capacity limits or restricted access

Special Cases

• Private/unofficial gatherings of less than 10 people don't count

• Virtual attendance or remote participation doesn't qualify

• Brief appearances under 30 minutes don't count as attendance
